If I had to choose one idea that followed me through CEP 810, it would be intentionality.

I came into this course already comfortable using technology. I was not hesitant to try new tools, and I already understood frameworks like TPACK. What changed was how often I stopped to ask why I was using a tool in the first place.

Throughout the course, I kept coming back to the idea that technology needs to support learning rather than become the reason for the lesson. TPACK reinforced that for me, but accessibility pushed me further. A tool can fit the content and pedagogy and still create barriers for some learners. Small, seemingly frivolous choices that I did not think much about because they do not impact me daily, like font size, captions, alt text, or how students access a resource, can completely change that learning experience. That realization also made me think about how easily ableism can show up in what we overlook.

I noticed the same shift with AI. I still use it, probably just as much as before, but I think more critically about what I am asking it to do, what information I am sharing, and whether it is actually helping.

The biggest change for me is that I now think less about whether technology is “good” and more about whether it is purposeful. It may seem small, but it has changed how I plan, revise, and reflect on my teaching.

My essay: Looking back at where my thinking started and how intentionality shaped where it went.
